OLD SCHOOL SURGERY PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP

On 9th June 2014 7.30pm we held our first meeting to set up a Patient Participation Group.

In the past we have always felt that we have a very good relationship with our patients and that they have always felt able to communicate freely with the Practice about ways we could improve or when they have felt things have gone well, and so have never felt the need to have a formal group. However it is becoming increasingly important for patients to have a more formal voice regarding their health care provision and experiences, particularly with the many proposed changes in the NHS which will have an impact on the way both Primary care (your GPs etc) and Secondary care (Hospital sector) deliver their services.
We propose to formally set up a patient group which will now meet on the second monday, quarterly; March, June, September & December, at the Surgery Hall at Old School Surgery, to discuss local health care issues, national issues, and as a forum for deciding what actions could be taken. Patient Participation groups are now more than ever, being approached for their opinions by the Clinical Commissioning groups, when changes are being decided.
We would like to encourage you to consider whether you feel you might like to become involved with this in any way. The more representation we have the better, as the views and discussions will be more representative of the whole practice population.
